About me

My name is Annika Heilmann, born in 1995 in Hamburg, Germany.

At first I studied History at the University of Bremen, before I came back to Hamburg and began my game design studies at University of Europe for Applied Sciences in 2017. I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in 2021 and began studying in the Master's program Zeitabhängige Medien - Games at HAW Hamburg, where I graduated with a Master of Arts in 2024.

Since 2018 am a working student for the Hamburg Kreativ Gesellschaft where I am project assistant for Gamecity Hamburg, the municipal initiative for the enhancement of the Hamburg games industry.

Between September 2019 and February 2020 I interned as game designer at the Hamburg indie developer Tiny Roar.

Alongside game design, my professional interests lie particularly in the areas of accessibility and gender equality in games. Accordingly, in my bachelor's thesis I addressed the accessibility for people with visual disabilities in analogue games and in my master's thesis I explored the narrative portrayal of female protagonists, particularly in the "Assassin's Creed" franchise.

I am currently looking for emploment in the area of Game Design or PR Management, the latter not necessarily directly in the games industry.
